The Barn at Goosecroft is a community hub for Purley on Thames, used for local events and theatre

Christmas Market 25 November 2023

It was lovely to see both Barns busy with stalls, refreshments and lots of people at what is our busiest event of the year.

As usual, there were a wide range of items for sale ranging from Christmas trees and wreaths to jewellery, cakes, candles, garden ornaments and wood carvings.  Many of the stall holders were local craftsmen selling unique items which couldn’t be purchased elsewhere.

Outside, Father and Mother Christmas welcomed children of all ages, posed for countless photographs and kept an eye on their two reindeer, who had come along from Twyford Farm.  The reindeer obligingly ate their way through lots of pots of reindeer food, until the time came when they were simply too full and visitors had to be content to just stroking them.

The raffle had eight prizes including the star prize of a luxury hamper.  Winners were: Pamela Richardson, Helen Stock, Tim Metcalfe, Bala Amafaza, Helen Dunford, Jess Dicks, Wendy Riley and Ros Crowder.
